Volunteer Opportunities

Hopkins AYSO is a 100% volunteer organization.  Why do we volunteer?  Because our kids love soccer and we want them to have the best soccer experience possible.  Here’s how you can help:

VOLUNTEER ADULT REFEREES NEEDED!

Additional  Volunteer Opportunities:

Coaches – Each fall, we are always looking for coaches.  You will be able to coach your own child and determine your team’s practice day/time.  Never played soccer before?  Don’t worry, many of our coaches began coaching with very little or no experience.  Their experience grows each season as their child advances through the divisions.  There are also several online and local training opportunities for coaches – and they’re FREE!  Want more information on coaching?  Email Ashlee Lust: coaches@hopkinsayso.com

Team Parent – Each team should have a team parent that helps the coach.  The team parent would be responsible for things like the team snack schedule, distributing picture information to parents, and attending practice and games to have a second adult present. Interested in becoming a Team Parent for your child’s team? Please contact your child’s coach or email Ashlee Lust: coaches@hopkinsayso.com

Referees – We are in desperate need of adult referees – ideally, each team should have one adult referee.  Our program is currently ran by a handful of youth refs who would appreciate some adult presence on the field.  Just like coaching, there is no experience required to be a referee.  There are several different levels of refereeing – we don’t expect a new referee to know all of the rules or be responsible for calling off sides or penalties.  It can be something as simple as  being a line referee for your first season – their job is to watch the sidelines and determining when/where the ball goes out of bounds and deciding who’s ball it is.    There are several online and local training opportunities, and Hopkins AYSO will pay any training fees.  Want more information on refereeing?  MORE INFORMATION HERE  or email JT Johnston: refs@hopkinsayso.com

Board Member – We are always looking for parents who want to join our AYSO Board.  If you are interested in joining our AYSO Board, please contact our Regional Commissioner (Brad Breining).

Field Maintenance Team Volunteer – Since AYSO is a volunteer-only organization, we do not hire a lawn service to maintain the fields for practice or matches.  Do you love to cut grass???  Our small (but MIGHTY!!) team could use your help in mowing and painting the lines on the fields.  Please contact the Regional Commissioner, Brad Breining, to help the team.

Advertising Coordinator – Do you love watching or playing soccer?  We have an opportunity for you!  Hopkins AYSO is excited about expanding our footprint in the area and could use some help with marketing and advertising.  Your commitment would include some time creating and posting advertising materials for registration.  Sound like your kind of gig?  Contact Laura Ford at registrar@hopkinsayso.com for more details.
